Why should you choose to purchase a custom XC frame from me? FOCUS
I have spent years riding and racing in the mud, cold, heat, humidity, rocks and roots of the Eastern United States. I grew up in Ohio and lived, rode, and raced there until I was 38. The Ohio and WV racing scene are somewhat intertwined and both states boast ferocious XC racers, races and conditions.
I have raced in the mud so much and I have done so many rides in sub 10 degree weather on salty roads that I have had tons of time to contemplate.....how could this be better or why does this not work? I am only addressing what did and didn't work for me. Other riders reach different conclusions on the same subject. Building your Justice Madison I am only looking for customers who may have thought the same about "What is the perfect bike?" and "Why?" I do not want to preach or say I have it all figured out for everyone. I think I have a good idea about what is perfect for me and maybe you if you are reading this?
After my daughter was born in Jan 2005 I decided that it was time to "sleep under a different sky". I am not squeamish or afraid of change. I knew I wanted to live somewhere warmer and with more trails. After looking for a couple of years in N. Georgia, Western North Carolina, and Tennessee I found Polk County Tennessee. I could have moved anywhere in the US and I chose Oldfort, TN. This place is like Hawaii, if you have never been there you won't understand how beautiful it is. Pictures do not come close to representing the beauty. I moved here because its a warm beautiful place to raise my kids, ride my bike and build your frame.
This all leads up to me building YOUR frame. One at a time. I know who is going to own each frame before they ever get started. I want you to ride your Justice Madison knowing..........
1-I faced the bb as soon as I started the build. The expensive alignment table is useless if the frame reference point isn't perfect. This is something somewhat unique to your Justice Madison. No one taught me this, it was born from experience and the ever present question in my head "How can I do this better?" I buy the best bbs that money can buy but they are not perfect until I have handled them. I face them again after being painted and just before sending the finished frame to you.
2-I take my time building your frame. Every thing is combed over and over. You deserve to have a frame built like this. I know it would give most people a headache to see how much time I spend on things that are done in a half a second in a factory. Your Justice Madison was not built in a factory. It was built in my shop with my hands with the door open so I can take a break and look at the mountains throughout your frames build.
3-I hand filed and ovalized the seat stay bridge on your Justice Madison. Its a bit over the top the way I do it but it adds love and beauty to your frame.
4-I use the very best chainstays on your frame and I build them without a chainstay bridge. Not installing a chainstay bridge provides for more mud clearance and helps keep the weight down. Lots of people will argue the need for this bridge. Its all relevant to what materials you are building with and what you intend to use the bike for? I use the best material and build XC frames for racing.
5-Disc specific only. Disc brakes are one of the few things I have ever found that will make you faster just by purchasing. They allow you to brake later, harder and with more control. They are not affected be the conditions and since I do not need to put v-brake bosses on the seatstays they allow for more mud clearance. I only build disc specific frames because I believe so much in them.
6-I love to build bicycle frames. This is what I do. My whole life has been leading me to here. I am moody, sometimes hard to please, loyal, usually take the long view, wild, self aware, but mostly I am in love. I am in love with knowing that you love your Justice Madison.
